Electronic loads are required for testing fuel cells such as PEMFC, AFC, PAFC, MCFC, SOFC. These electronic loads are designed either in IGBT technology with power, current and voltage ranges according to specific requirements or in transistor technology.

Electronic loads in IGBT technology are designed for high voltage ranges up to 900 V,  current ranges up to 1000 A, and power ranges up to 480 kW. This technology allows a full sine wave energy feed back to the AC power lines. In case of an inadequate power supply the energy losses are converted into heat.

Electronic loads are controlled by the well known BTS-600 test software. Digatron/Firing Circuits electronic loads in combination with BTS-600 test software provide highest dynamic regulation and high-speed data acquisition. Thus, a 1kHz sine wave signal can be applied to the DC load current to measure AC resistances.

FCT units in IGBT technology are required for high voltage and high power test applications. The sinusoidal energy feed back to the AC power lines while testing high power fuel cells will save energy and increase efficiency. IGBT technology provides high dynamic regulation and high speed data acquisition.
